HTD 5M or GT2: Which Belt for Your Machine?
Pick by load, speed and precision. Both can run on small machines, but they are not interchangeable.
GT2 has a 2 mm pitch; HTD 5M has a 5 mm pitch. They need different pulleys, so choose the profile first and buy matching parts.

GT2 gives fine resolution and low backlash for accurate positioning. HTD 5M carries more load per tooth but has coarser steps, so it suits drives where torque matters more than fine resolution. If your drawing already shows a profile, keep it: swapping profiles means replacing every pulley.
